Beaver Dominates from the Opening Tip in 89–35 Win at New Kensington
Penn State Beaver wasted no time taking control on the road, jumping out to an early lead and never looking back in an 89–35 victory over New Kensington
Penn State Beaver rolled to an 89–35 road win on Feb. 7, using a fast start and steady pressure to take control early and never let up. Beaver set the tone immediately, jumping out to a 21–7 lead behind crisp ball movement and active defense. They consistently won the early 50/50 plays, creating extra chances and limiting clean looks at the other end. The fast start forced New Kensington to play from behind right away, and Beaver used that cushion to dictate tempo. The game broke open in the second, as Beaver poured in 30 points to take a commanding 51–14 halftime advantage. Beaver's offense flowed through multiple options, with strong finishing around the basket and timely perimeter makes, while the defense continued to squeeze possessions and prevent any sustained response. The margin allowed Beaver to keep attacking without overextending, maintaining control on both ends. Beaver delivered its most complete stretch after the break, outscoring New Kensington 26–9 to push the lead to 77–23 entering the fourth. The visitors' energy didn't dip coming out of halftime—defensive pressure stayed sharp, and the offense continued to convert in transition and in the half court. With the outcome essentially decided, Beaver still played with purpose, extending possessions and keeping New Kensington from generating momentum. The fourth quarter finished even at 12–12, but the result had long been decided by Beaver's dominant first three quarters.
Beaver's depth and defensive consistency were the difference, and the visitors' ability to score in waves made it difficult for New Kensington to stabilize. The win keeps Penn State Beaver great on the season and in conference play, while New Kensington continues to search for its first victory. Beaver shot 38-for-79 (48.1%) from the field and finished with 33 rebounds and 15 assists. Beaver also got production throughout the lineup, led by Bailey Rieg with 14 points and Caitlyn O'Hara with 12 points on 5-for-5 shooting, and Cashimere Ralph adding a strong 10.
Beaver stayed consistent and added defensive pressure to secure the 54-point win. The team will take the court again on Monday, February 9th at 6pm in the Beaver Fieldhouse. They will take on Penn State Fayette in another PSUAC match-up!
